In 1987, the national craftsmanship company Artespaña commissioned renowned architects and designers of the time, such as Rafael Moneo, Pedro Miralles, José Luis Pérez Ortega, Oscar Tusquets, to design a piece of furniture for the company's new image.
José Luis Pérez Ortega graduated at the Scuola Politécnica in Milan as an industrial designer with Bruno Munari as a teacher and collaborator of the architect Gianfranco Frattini in his Milan studio and founder together with Miguel Durán-Loriga Uno, the experimental design school at Madrid in 1984. proposes to design a product in the spirit and philosophy of the company.
After a rigorous study of Spanish historical furniture, in 1988 he presented as a design a new armchair with a volumetric similar to the historical convent armchair of the 16th century but of great formal simplicity and linear character with a stainless steel structure, upholstered in leather and armrests in Spanish walnut wood carved with the scroll of a violin evoking its historical past.
With the purpose of present this icon of Spanish history design available to the Art and Luxury Hotels, ArtesMoble produces the original piece numbered and signed by its designer, Mr. José Luis Pérez Ortega in a wide variety of customizable finishes.
