The Differences between High Quality and Low Quality Furniture

11/2/2017

It is not uncommon to find on the Internet and in certain online stores furniture of a similar appearance and design to ArtesMoble. Often it is a blatant copy other times it is something based on one of our EXCLUSIVE designs, ineveitably they are always of inferior quality. It is furniture manufactured in low quality workshops using non eco friendly and poor quality raw materials.

Let us see with an example the differences between a furniture manufactured with the ArtesMoble high quality process, and other of a similar appearance and inferior quality. The purpose of this comparison is not discredited other manufacturers, their products, or online stores, that distribute low quality furniture inspired in our designs. But simple to assert our designs, which have been awarded Design prizes, and made with the know-how of our master cabinetmakers, and great furniture professionals in Spain, manufacturing elegant high quality furniture. The two tables to be compared are Dining tables. The left table is an imported furniture, that does not belong to ArtesMoble. The right table belongs to our luxury fine hancrafted Furniture Collection, specifically it is our dining table with lattice and glass reference "T-663”.The manufacturer, importer and distributor of the similar appearance furniture is not named, because the intent is to identify the visible differences between the two dining tables, one manufactured with the high quality of ArtesMoble, and the other of lower quality and similar look.

Differences Between High Quality and Low Quality Furniture

Main differences:

1.- Table supports: We can see the low quality table (left picture) , the legs are attached under the lid, leaving visible the joint cuts, the horizontal orientation of the wood on the lid and vertically on the legs spoil its esthetic, in addition the legs table are screwed on the lid, this system is a poor option, that does not guarantee the table stability in the medium and long term. In the right picture, we can see, the legs of our table are integrated and joined in the lid, improving its aesthetic, because the legs are assembled by pressure systems with clamps and glue joinery, that guarantee a total table stability in the medium and long term, also on the top, our table has square cut wooden pieces that frame the glass and prevent it to slip off.

2.- The lid: In the low quality table, we can see the lid is shaped by a frame with its legs aligned on the same level. The lid of our high quality table is formed by legs, beams, and support bars, the thickr leg protrudes vertically, to provide volume and movement to the table, improving its aesthetic and lightening its look.

3.- Glass size, avoiding dirtiness: The glass of the low quality table is supported and framed over the interior lattice, the glass does not cover the entire length and width of the lid. In our high quality table, the glass covers all the lid, and it is framed between square cut wooden pieces in each vertex. The glass occupies the entire lid, which avoids that possible dirtiness enter inside the frame and into the lattice, in contrast of the lower quality table.

4.- The interior lattice: In the low quality table for a standard measure of 90cm width/depth and 160cm length, it has a lattice made of 5 open squares along its width and depth; and 9 open squares along its length. In our high quality standard dining table, it is wider (103cm width/depth) and it is longer (175cm length). The lattice has 9 open squares along its width and depth, and 18 open squares along its length, achieving a fine and elegant aesthetic. Concluding that our lattice dining table involves more work done.

5.- The Wood used during the manufacturing process: The Wood of the low quality table is a tropical timber, we do not know what kind of tropical timber is used, but when the manufacturer or importer does not mention the timber specie in the table technical data, we can say with all certainty, it is not a noble timber. The beech wood used in the manufacturing of our table is considered a precious wood, also in the low quality table, we can see a dead knot, which denotes its careless selection and sanitation, as a consequence of a mediocre work, which lacks of an efficient quality process. Our wood is PEFC certified, guaranteeing an eco-friendly responsible furniture manufacturing, contributing with the sustainability of our forest for future generations. The absence of legislation and commitment of many manufacturers of imported furniture and distributors that used wood from forest and jungles of Asia and America is an unhappy reality, that leads to increase the deforestation and climate change, every year.

6.- The finishing and polishing process: We do not know the process done on the low quality table, but according to its constructive quality and mediocre work, we can conclude that its finishing process is of lower quality than our high quality finishing process, which provides our design the capacity to be easily adapted to your personal decorative style and taste, to be integrated into classic, modern, and contemporary decoration styles. In addition our natural finishing allows our table to create cozy Nordic environments.

7.- Raw manufacturing: We do not know other details of the raw manufacturing process of the imported table, such as spikes dimension, assemblies, type of glue…. But we are convinced that they are of lower quality than the ones we use in our High quality furniture manufacturing process in Spain.

The differences between a ArtesMoble using the know-how of the Spanish master cabinet-makers and great furniture professionals in Spain, and the other table manufactured in poor quality workshops and importers are clearly evident.
