Packaging High Quality Furniture

Based on the fact that wood and its derivatives are materials with a soft hardness range, they are considered fragile materials. Even though a few scratches do not leave a lid of a table useless, it is unacceptable to receive damaged furniture. In this way, efficient packaging and a professional carrier are a high priority.

In this blog, we will focus on packaging, more specifically the one that ArtesMoble uses to deliver both collections classic Victorian style and contemporary furniture collections. We start from the belief that nobody has more interest in good packaging than ArtesMoble. Therefore, we must make sure that our high-quality furniture reaches its destination in optimum conditions. Good packaging is vital to save all the merits of the raw materials and all the skill and effort used in our raw manufacturing and finishing processes. Thus, ArtesMoble uses the appropriate packaging to protect adequately the furniture, avoiding possible damages during transit from our factory warehouse to the customer’s site.

ArtesMoble Brand packages each piece of furniture with several layers of different recycling materials that come from our supplier "Sistembal”, who shares our same commitment of manufacturing products in a friendly environmental way.

The first layer that covers our furniture is made of foam, which is an easy material to be adapted to all surfaces, protecting the furniture against water, and liquids with acids and alkaline-based products. Furthermore, foam soft surface avoids possible scratches on furniture, Foam material features low permeability to water vapors, high resistance to dissolvent, it is recyclable and reusable, and is made of 100% polyethylene.

The second layer is an alveolus film with polyethylene foam. It is also an easy material to be adapted to all surfaces. It is perfect to wrap all sides of furniture and pieces such as shelves, doors, and extensions. This second layer is made of three materials: a) Low-density polyethylene, B) a mix of lineal polyethylene and thermoforming (low speed 75% vacuum), this technique improves the protection against possible damages, and c) Expanded foam closed cell, which is made mainly from PP through extrusion, featuring 9.900 bubbles per square meter to reinforce the shock-resistant protection.

The third layer is made from polyethylene closed cell, L-shaped (density of 25kg/m3). This material is made through an environmentally friendly method free of fluorocarbon, 100% recyclable material. ArtesMoble uses it to cover and protect the furniture edges, shelves, extensions, and beams.

The fourth layer is made from recycled double wall corrugated cardboard sheets. It is the same row material that is used for box manufacturing, differing almost exclusively by the higher capacity to be adapted to any furniture surface. Cardboard sheet is made of two fluting sandwiched between three sheets of paper, to improve shock-resistant protection.

Finally, ArtesMoble uses Pinewood crates for special pieces of furniture that must be transported and freighted by air, sea, and rail. We package each piece of furniture in wood crates made of Pine Insignia that come from Spanish regions: Castilla, Galicia, Vizcaya, and Teruel. The pine wood is treated to comply with phytosanitary ISPM-15 regulations, to transit without any difficulty for any port and country around the world. Our wood crates supplier "Embalajes Gracia” applies to each board wood a disinfection method, that consists of placing a thermostatic temperature probe into the core wood, this device can alert the operator when the core reaches 67 degrees centigrade. The exterior surface of the wood can reach 100 degrees centigrade. This method guarantees complete deworming. Furthermore, wood crates can be treated with damp-proofing treatment.
